Kindness

R2L

R2L have been looking at what bullying means this week. They created some odd socks to show that although we may be different on the outside, we are all the same inside. They have also painted some kindness stones and hidden them around the school - I wonder who will find them!

Year 2

Year 2 have been exploring the properties of 2D shapes in maths this week and have loved using the Geo Boards to investigate sides and vertices.

Year 5/6

Year 5/6 are learning to be future mechanical engineers. They looked at the gears on a bike to see that smaller gears rotate more quickly and are easier to turn but do not provide much force.

Larger gears rotate more slowly and are harder to turn but provide more force. Gears are used in bicycles to make it easier to cycle uphill and faster to cycle on the flat. We now know to use smaller gears when cycling up Stanmore Lane!

Catkins planned and carried out a route around Stanmore using Google Maps. We looked at the features we could see on the map and then searched for these during our walk. We found a tree that was 99 years old and spotted lots of Autumnal change around Stanmore. We then retraced our steps using Google Street view.
