Sunshine at last
Maple
This week, Maple Class concluded their 'Dragon Dance' music unit by playing a range of untuned instruments to accompany the 'Chinese Lanterns' song. They kept in time with the beat of the music and included louder and quieter sounds as they played. The children loved wearing their dragon masks to recreate dragon dancing around our school grounds. We think they look great!
In science, Year 1 children learnt about weather forecasting and worked together to present their own weather forecast. We have some excellent meteorologists in the making!
Rowan
Year 2 have started their new maths unit on mass, capacity and temperature. We started the unit by comparing the mass of different objects. We used the balancing scales to
see which objects were lighter and which objects were heavier.
Birch
Birch Class treated us to a fantastic Beyond the Beat concert and they enjoyed eating the delicious Comic Relief Cookies!
Sycamore
Sycamore Class had a wonderful day out on the River trip! They listened extremely well and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine!
They also saw some incredible invertebrates such as mayfly nymphs, stone fish and carbisfly larvae.
Aspen
This week Aspen class have continued to make some nature inspired art. They used various materials found in nature to create an interpretive art piece. They also had a great time French skipping for comic relief! Look at those action shots!
Elm
Year 6 have been practicing their netball skills. They were working on passing and receiving the ball. Then we moved into a half court game!
Beyond the Beat
Our musicians treated us to a Beyond the Beat concert and their progress was impressive. It was also brilliant to hear that Stanmore musicians are performing well in the ‘Rock the Beat’ and other music groups at Kings. Congratulations and keep practising. Your musical future is bright.
