KS1
Rowan and Maple class had a great day at the Sea City Museum in Southampton today. The children explored a range of resources that would have been on board the Titanic including ceramic hot water bottles, hair curlers, oil bags that were on the lifeboats and many other items. They also discussed who they would save if they were in charge of the lifeboats, matched rooms to where they were on board the ship, used their sense of smell to work out some smells that may have been present in different areas of the ship (including fire and smelly feet for the gymnasium!) We had a guided tour of some of the museum and then spent some of the afternoon doing our own quizzes. The children were excellent and learnt a lot, a great day!
Stanmore Reading Festival
An amazing time was had by the whole school this week during our annual Reading Festival. Activities were based on the story of Arthur and the Sword in The Stone and included role on the wall helicopter stories and making spells and potions. We even had our own sword and Mrs Taylor wowed the children by pulling it clean from the stone! The day was rounded off with a live demonstration of jousting in full armour by some professional knights.
Thanks to Mr Thomas for his brilliant story telling and Mrs Jones for her excellent organisation. As you can see from the pictures the children thoroughly enjoyed the activities and we can’t wait until next year!
Stanmore children and their trips!

The children explored the uses of AI in the modern world and learnt all about how AI is programmed, how it learns and all of the moral and ethical implication associated with it. The day finished with a competition to design a new AI that would solve a problem that would benefit mankind and all the ideas were incredible. Well done everyone for a great day; we can’t wait to see if any of your ideas come to fruition.
