Disco dancing and Calypso Sparkle (Copy)

Maple

Children in Maple Class have settled brilliantly back into school after half term. They loved exploring the squashes and pumpkins this week, scooping them out ready for carving for the Disco on Wednesday. Year 1 children drew on their knowledge of the 1950s to create some excellent knowledge organisers - fabulous independent work!

Rowan

In maths, Rowan have been working hard to subtract numbers across a 10 and find 10 more and 10 less than numbers. Using different resources and learning different methods has been really helpful. The children had lots of fun singing and dancing with their friends at the Halloween disco - thank you FOS!

Birch

In English we have been reading 'The first picture'. The children recreated a freeze frame of the moment the cave people saw a painting of a woolly mammoth for the first time. They acted out the next scene to get into the characters' heads before they wrote a short piece of writing about the event. In art we have started to look into pottery, the children learnt about some pottery techniques and got a chance to practice several of them. They grew very attached to their pinch pots; we decided to let the clay set so they could take them home.

Sycamore

Sycamore class have been learning some new vocabulary in French. We have been learning the names for different family members in our new unit called ‘La Famille’

Aspen

This week Aspen class have continued with their unit on multiplication and division. They have been looking at square numbers and how to make them. They used counters to create an array and then figured out which numbers were square, and which were not. Well done Aspen class.

Elm

This week in Elm we have been creating our own Calypso Sparkle Reggae song. The children worked collaboratively in teams., they wrote their own their own lyrics and performed it to an audience.
