Cricket Club

Cricket Club meet every Thursday after school in the summer term from 3:30pm- 5:00pm. The club is run by Mr Quincey and is open to children in Years 4, 5 and 6.

The club will resume sessions again during the second half of the summer term 2017 depending on the weather. Watch out for a letter with more details.

Children will need to wear their P.E. kit and ensure that they have appropriate outdoor footwear.

There is no charge for the club but you do need to return a permission slip signed by your parent or carer before you can join. Please speak to Mr Quincey if you have any queries.

As you can see we had a great team last year who were very successful. Let's hope we can repeat our winning ways in 2017!

Cricket Tournament report by Joseph Cook
On 9th June Mr Quincy took us to a cricket tournament at Hursley. We took 9 players and 8 played in each match.

Our first game was against John Keble School and we only lost by one run.

Our next match was against Sparsholt B team and we had a great game and won by a staggering 68 runs. After that we played Colden Common. We needed to win this match to have a chance of qualifying for the quarter finals. We gave an excellent team performance and we comfortably won. There was a three way tie in our group so each team chose two players to compete in a bowl off to secure a place in the quarter finals. Mr Quincey choose Naseem and me.  The first two teams to hit the stumps would go through to the quarter finals. After we both came close, I hit the stumps and sent Stanmore through!

Our quarter final was against Winnall School. We had a great match all scoring well and easily made it into the semi finals. This was now our second match against Colden Common. The match was really close, however we stayed focused and won the game. A special well done must go the Maxx who caught a crucial catch to win us the match.

WE WERE IN THE FINAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We faced Sparsholt A  and they put on an excellent score of 74 after only losing one wicket ( Holly). Our fielding was brilliant and we were ready to face the challenge. Everyone played their part and by the last over we were winning. However Samantha was now facing a fast district bowler and had to avoid being bowled out for us to win the game. She defended brilliantly (well done Samantha!) and I scored the winning runs to beat Sparsholt by 6 runs.

Well done everybody - we make a fantastic team.

ONCE AGAIN STANMORE ARE CHAMPIONS!

Bigs thanks to Mr Quincey for taking time to run the cricket practice and thanks also to Mrs Gordon for helping get us there on the day.
